Not sure about you, but I’m the type to want to have things figured out as much as possible before I jump in and commit.
Problem is, we find that we're never fully ready. In no time, frustration, stagnancy, and discontentment with where you are in life creeps in and things start going downhill.
Forward movement has been my go-to motto. Standing still just doesn’t cut the mustard.
Progress, however slight, is necessary. So, what to do when you ache for big change, a fresh start, a new business, but you tremble with fear because you’re not ready?
As terrifying as it sounds, “Just do it!”
Begin even when you’re not fully ready. Things will either fall into place or fall apart and that’s okay. We focus so much on the outcome that we lose sight of the joy of becoming – the transformation.
In fact, it’s more than okay if you’re big idea or big move doesn’t work out. Why? Because the beauty in not achieving is knowledge. Once you know better, you’ll become better; and no one will be able to stop you.
Take a look at people that own businesses. Why do you think that the likelihood of someone starting a second or third business is far greater than someone starting their first?
Because like anything new, anything out of your comfort zone, in the beginning, it’s hard. But as you try, learn and try again, it gets considerably easier.
Not to say that running a new business is a cakewalk, but you do have more at your disposal than you did before; more tools in your she-shed.
Just like you, I too get in my own head, and consequently in my own way. So many restless nights plagued me. The fear to commit – invest time, money and energy into something you’re just not sure will work out.
But it’s really the hunger that gets you...You know the one.
The why that you need to fulfill and share with the world. The creepy shadow of regret that lurks. A voice that started out as a whisper, now shouts ever so loudly.
Left unattended, it quickly engulfs everything around you. Poor health practices, strained relationships, bursts of anger, sluggishness, the inability to concentrate, foul moods, and so much more. Draining you into an unrecognizable shell of a person.
Luckily, there are magnificent inspirations all around us. Beautiful people, teachers and stories of everyday people like you and me, dreaming, doing and making impossible things, possible. Energies put out into the universe to help restore the fullness of the gifts we all have bustling within.
Whatever you do, just begin and go from there.
It doesn't matter how big the dream. You were made to do impossible things.
So, what’s your takeaway?
What’s the big change you want to make in your life keeping you awake at night?
What action (big or small) can you take right now to help get you feel one step closer to making your dream happen?
